Barcelona FC are the champions of Europe !!!!
After a gruelling clash of the TITANS Barca emerged victorious over ARSENAL.But the gooners did give the Spanish side a really tough time.It was expected to be a HENRY vs Ronaldinho clash.But Ronaldinho was out of form one would feel and Henry missed two easy chances when he had only Valdes to beat.Arsenal was handicapped as early as 18 th minute when Lehman was sent off for a tackle on Eto who troubled gooners every time he had the ball.But Ronaldinho could not capitalize on the resulting free kick.Wenger had to sacrifice Pires for bringing on Alumina.It was a sad ending for Pires' career with Arsenal.Arsenal broke the deadlock when Campbell leaped over everybody to head in a fantastic delivery from Henry.But the freekick itself was a dubious decision when Eboue went down easily just outside 22 yards.From then on it was BARCA only.But they could not penetrate.Barca waited and waited and waited.It was smart substitution from Raijkard that did the trick for the Catahlans.A smart pass from Larsen saw Etoo one on one with Alumina and it was indeed a cool finish from the Cameroon international.The fans were thrilled by the goal and they were expecting more.Yet another smart move from Raijkard to play Balletti also payed off.Again Larsen was involved Balletti's strike got deflected in to the goal off unlucky Alumina who I thought did well apart from this mistake.But then it is the Final and there cannot be any mistakes.That was enough for Barca to clinch their second champions league victory !!!!
It was a really good week for Spain.Alonso clinched the spanish grandprix,Nadal outsted no 1 Federer in the Masters final and now Barcelona are the champions of europe.
For some players it may be their last game for their clubs - Henry,Pires,Etoo,Larsen,Cole......
It was a good contest but not as good as last final where Liverpool came back from a 3 goal deficit to beat Milan.
Waiting for the world cup.
